Introducing the Inaugural Steve Johnson XC Invite, which will be run Saturday, September 30th, 2017 at Wartburg College’s nationally-recognized Max Cross Country Course (and NEW high school 5k route)! This race will be an awesome experience for your teams – with chip-timing, wide-trails, including a 600 meter finishing chute, and the opportunity to watch a college race prior to the high school races! There will also be a large amount of team and individual awards. Wartburg is excited to bring a big-time race to both the MAX course and to Eastern Iowa and certainly have the resources to do so. With help from Scott Gall (owner of Cedar Falls’ The Runner’s Flat) and our timer, Cal Murdock, we hope to add an exciting experience to your schedules next year!
What: Steve Johnson XC Invite
When: Saturday, September 30th, starting at Noon
Where: Wartburg College’s Max Cross Country Course, Waverly, Iowa
Meet Entry is $100 per gender.
For the Inaugural year, we are looking to have AT LEAST 20 teams at the meet, though the course can hold many more than that (the course hosted NCAA Nationals just 6 years ago). We would look to hold both J/V and Varsity Races. With the Noon start time, we would love to have both local teams and schools from across the state.
Please let us know if you have any questions about the meet. Be sure to email Ryan Chapman to RSVP.
